I Am Not Afraid of Storms (Louisa May Alcott) - Mobius Necklace

Sale price $54.95 Regular price $980.00
This elegant sterling silver mini Mobius necklace is finely engraved with a quote from character Amy in Louisa May Alcott's book My Lord and Lady:

I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship (with Louisa May Alcott's signature & boat icon).

These spirited words spoken by Amy in Alcott's book My Lord and Lady show great strength, hope and independence. The quotation is inscribed with a little sailboat on our small mobius shape, the symbol of infinity. The words have no beginning or end but continue forever around the mobius.

This remarkable pendant employs the uniquely beautiful geometric form known as a Mobius strip, named after the German mathematician, August Ferdinand Mobius (1790-1868). It represents the seeming paradox of a plane without end, or one of infinite length. As such it becomes an accepted symbol for infinity, an appropriate and symbolic form for a quotation such as this.

The circlet will move about the chain when worn, constantly changing its appearance, creating one shape and then another. The more you observe its seeming simplicity, the more complex it becomes. The message remains constant, the shape never rests.

Sterling silver mobius pendant on 18" silver chain.
Mobius pendant measures 7/8" in diameter.
Composed of .925 solid sterling silver. Also available by special order in 14 K gold.

Crafted proudly in the USA by Laurel Elliott DVB New York, designer of the original Mobius necklace.

DVB utilizes the “cire-perdue” or lost-wax casting method of jewelry creation. Lost-wax casting is actually an ancient method of jewelry production used in creating the finest jewelry. Owing to the nature of the technique and the hand finishing of each casting, small variations in dimension, weight and finish will occur.
