Saint Peregrine (1265-1345) of Italy has been called the "wonder worker" for his intercession on behalf of those living with serious illnesses. He was part of the Servite Order, who are dedicated to the Blessed Mother. He is the Patron Saint for those suffering of Cancer, but also of AIDS and other illnesses.

Saint Peregrine experienced a miraculous healing. He was scheduled to have his leg amputated due to an invasive cancerous growth. The night before the surgery, he prayed fervently to be healed. He was gifted with a vision of Christ, who appeared before him and gently touched his cancerous leg. When the surgeon arrived the next day for the surgery, there was no sign of the cancer, and he was completely healed. The surgeon, rightly, was astonished. People have prayed to him for healing of life threatening illnesses ever since.
