St Anthony's Prayer - Mobius Necklace

Sale price $56.95 Regular price $980.00
This elegant sterling silver Mobius necklace is finely engraved with a prayer to St Anthony to find something which has been lost:
"Dear St. Anthony please come around, Something is lost and must be found."
St. Anthony of Padua was a Catholic priest and then a friar of St. Francis' order of Franciscans. He was 12 years younger than St. Francis but a kindred spirit as they shared a common vision to live simply as an example to all. In the Catholic religion, St. Anthony is the patron saint of finding lost things or lost people. The story is told that when his beloved psalter was stolen, St. Anthony prayed for its return and it came back to him. From that time until the present day, people often recite the prayer inscribed on this necklace when something is lost in the hope of its being found.
This remarkable pendant employs the uniquely beautiful geometric form known as a Mobius strip, named after the German mathematician, August Ferdinand Mobius (1790-1868). It represents the seeming paradox of a plane without end, or one of infinite length. As such it becomes an accepted symbol for infinity, an appropriate and symbolic form for a quotation such as this.
The circlet will move about the chain when worn, constantly changing its appearance, creating one shape and then another. The more you observe its seeming simplicity, the more complex it becomes. The message remains constant, the shape never rests.

DVB utilizes the "cire-perdue" or lost-wax casting method of jewelry creation. Lost-wax casting is actually an ancient method of jewelry production used in creating the finest jewelry. Owing to the nature of the technique and the hand finishing of each casting, small variations in dimension, weight and finish will occur.
